Tests are a key component of any hospital and underpin the individualised treatment of the patient. The treating physician must be able to be 100% confident of the accuracy of the results.
The laboratory makes a significant contribution here, working quietly in the background almost unnoticed by the patients. The spectrum of laboratory diagnostic procedures ranges widely, from blood tests through to tests on the blood-forming cells in the bone marrow.
